Nice to meet you!

I’m Kate.

Meet the English Teacher

I’m from Australia.

I love English, and I love teaching.

I have been teaching for more than ten years.

I teach all levels, from young children to high school students and adults.

I lived and taught in Japan for four years. (I know a little Japanese.)

I also lived in the United States when I was five years old.

Students tell me that my accent is easy to understand!

I have a big, fluffy dog.

I play three musical instruments.

I always want students to feel comfortable. There is no pressure! Let's enjoy English, and go at your own pace.

I like writing stories.

I think grammar can be interesting!!! Really!

I have a TESOL certificate, a Graduate Diploma in Education, and a Bachelor's Degree in Communication (majoring in mass communication, media, and culture).

I have many hobbies! Maybe we like the same things. Let’s use English together to find out!

Meet the Writer

Kate Mac is the hat-loving, tree-climbing, tea-guzzling author of Flamegate, the fantasy adventure duology about an erratic, sarcastic, dimensionally unstable trumpet player trying to save the world before his time runs out. Readers have described the books as being similar in style to Studio Ghibli, 2005-2013 era Doctor Who, or if Terry Pratchett were leaning into his darker side.

Her self-illustrated and fully handwritten poetry collection, Pondersome: Poems by Kate Mac, is also available as both ebook and paperback.

Although a farm kid at heart, Kate currently lives in the city of Brisbane, Australia. Between writing, she fills her time with teaching English, learning new instruments (her latest acquisition is a drum kit), and playing with her high-energy dog.

For stories, Kate loves writing in third-person, though she finds it somewhat disconcerting when writing about herself.

You can find her on Instagram as @katemacwriting .

Thank you for supporting independent authors and artists!
